PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Short, stocky body. Spontaneous carrier of hemophilia.
PERSONALITY:
As a young girl and woman, she was known to have a keen sense of humor and loved to laugh. Prince Albert had a sobering affect on her personality. She was a fine artist, having done many drawings and paintings. Forgiving, honest, and devoted to her family. Champion of the underdog. Unorthodox but patriotic. She went into a deep depression after the death of Prince Albert that lasted 40 years. She also suffered a nervous breakdown after the death of her mother.
COMMENTS:
Her father, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, died when she was one month old. Raised by only her mother, her early life was one of isolation and may be the reason she was never fond of babies despite having had nine children of her own. Hers was the longest reign of any English Monarch at 63 years and known as the Victorian age.
