Was not allowed by the Queen to marry the love of her life.

TIMELINE:

Late 1950's	Stress over marriage plans being thwarted by the Queen (her sister). Princess Margaret wanted to marry RAF Group Captain Peter Townsend but because he was divorced, the Queen would not permit it.
